This was the song that changed it all for us.

I wrote this song with Muruga Booker and Doug Weaver the night before Hash Bash 2016. It was on the third album Muruga and I were working on together in the 9 months I had known him at that point.
While we were recording this song Muruga received a call asking him to come play at this hash bash pre party. He looked at us and said, well we have to go it's at this mansion near by. I wasn't sure what we were getting into, so we all hopped in the car and went. When we showed up it was the usual affairs well put together.

After a while we played a late acoustic set in front of this albino stuffed deer. By the end of the set John Sinclair was one of the few left meditating and grooving to our music we were creating improv style. I believe the party was put on by Darrell Stavros.

I had no idea at the time, but that lead the way for me to start working with the Hash Bash crew. The next year I opened the ceremonies with the national anthem filling in for Laith Al-Saadi. That year the ceremonies ended with Cosmic Knot playing a 2 hour set to the 10,000 people that showed up and hung out.

Since then we've played Hash Bash every year and were set to play with a cannabis plant this year, but the illness got in the way. There's always next year.

Getting into Hash Bash was a pivotal point for Cosmic Knot and myself included. It gave us a lot of momentum that a band needs early on to gain some traction. I'm beyond grateful that things fell into place like they did.

On the album I recorded with Muruga the original version of this song ended up being the title track. It starts out as a basic 4-1 blues tune. As it shifts into the chorus it takes a strange turn and slides to a flat 5, instead of the usual 5 that we always hear in music. It was a bit of influence I had gained from hanging around my friends from other countries. They like to keep music really interesting.
