about

I wrote Tell Me when I was 18 or 19. It came to me all at once like some songs have a tendency to do especially considering the subject matter. It came off as a bit of a Latin vibe, but I never aim when I write, I just let come out what comes out and work with it.

This song is entirely about the loss of a very dear friend of mine who taught me more about life than most will grasp in a lifetime. The saddest part was that he didn't die, he just lost his mind very similar to the Pink Floyd scenario with Syd Barrett.

When I wrote this song I had no idea what we were going through at the time, I just knew it was a serious change. Afterwards I tried to get different bands I put together to play it, but they couldn't figure out how. It is a weird tune. Once I formed Cosmic Knot I made sure we worked it into the mix and I'm so glad we did.

This is one of the most fun songs we play live. Our keys player Ramon remarked that it gets to a point that never really resolves and that creates a bit of tension in a good way.

When we recorded this song Justin Avdek walked into the studio just before we started tracking and our bass player Zach immediately took off his bass and gave it to Justin and said you play on it. The song ended up with a much different vibe due to this. At the end of it we were glad it came together like it did. For me it seemed to rekindle a bit of despair getting this song out.

*All song titles on our albums will go together to create a poem by themselves and combined. The first album was arranged in this way and our next album Do You will be as well...

lyrics

Tell me when I am gone
Tell me that I don't belong
Tell me only cause I'm gone
Tell me cause I've got to carry on

Yeah we'll never find it out
And there never was any doubt
If only we hadn't lost our heads
We should've listened to what we said
But if we could go back to the day
We could make it all ok
But we can't
And we won't
So we don't

Yes I'm leaving and I won't turn back my head
Yes I'm gone I just think of those things you said
Well I'm back but it's only in your head
Yes I'm back cause you haven't let go instead

Yeah we'll never find it out
And there never was any doubt
If only we hadn't lost our heads
We should've listened to what we said
But if we could go back to the day
We could make it all ok
But we can't
And we won't
So we don't

Yes we can't
And we won't
So we don't

Yeah we'll never find it out
And there never was any doubt
If only we hadn't lost our heads
We should've listened to what we said
But if we could go back to the day
We could make it all ok
But we can't
And we won't
So we don't
