about

This one has always been a crowd favorite. It was designed around a waltz beat due to a study I found suggesting that depending on the beat you use, it can react with people in different ways promoting better circulation or restrictive circulation because of a reaction in the rhythm of the heart with the music.

The song talks about a person encountering apparitions and learning to navigate their way around what would seem like dark energy at times. This song is about some strange things I've experienced in life, but goes along with the story of the album. It also mentions Wheatland which is where I cut my teeth as a young musician. It's truly one of the most positive places, yet as luck would have it I've ran into some strange things running around that place as well.

The end of the song changes into a straight waltz beat with a 1 1-2 pattern and gets heavy. After the solos it comes in with lyrics. I worte the second half of this song on my way back from a gig in Ohio I played with Skeetown Stylee. It was my first time meeting Tropidelic. During their set there were some loose women to say the least. We were all kinda shocked by it. We decided to leave shortly after and on the way home riding through the corn fields of Ohio on a moonlit night the lyrics started coming to me. As time progressed the words morphed a little bit. I had built up a business with someone who eventually turned out to be a terrible person. One of his quotes was about chasing paper - meaning money. I was never that kind of person and it always gave me a bad vibe, so I put the line in "don't waste your time chasing paper, those illusions don't fulfill at all" in a reference to him and what he could have learned. Instead I had to leave that biz we built up and he didn't last very long after that as expected. The message remains clear though, especially in these times. Money isn't what's important. It's truth and love.

We ended up winning best song at Walk The Beat with this one and that helped us launch our album forward. If you haven't heard of Walk The Beat check them out. Great people doing great things for the musical community.

*All song titles on our albums will go together to create a poem by themselves and combined. The first album was arranged in this way and our next album Do You will be as well...

lyrics

I was walking down a lonely road one day
When suddenly before my eyes
There was an apparition standing before me
Asking if he could come along for the ride
I said no
I'm doing just fine
I don't have to pay you any mind
You are stuck here
You will stay
And I will fight it off until this very day

Cause I won't let no devils
Dance with me
The greatest good is all that there can be
Yes I won't let no devils
Dance with me
The greatest good is all that there can be

I was walking down a Wheatland road one day
When suddenly before my eyes
There was an apparition standing before me
This time he was looking as real as real life
Looked me right in the eye and said hippies will
That's when I said that there was no hell
He said that's right
Went on his way
And I will fight it off until this very day

Cause I won't let no devils
Dance with me
The greatest good is all that there can be
Yes I won't let no devils
Dance with me
The greatest good is all that there can be

Well I suggest you think everybody's dirty
Cause you've been giving them all your spit shine
Spreading your DNA around like it's currency
But you can never buy back the time
So don't go waste your time chasing paper
Those illusions don't fulfill at all
Walking around like we're authorities
Really we're all just proles...
